It’s senior photo season!  I had a great time hanging out with Joe and his mom as we captured some images of him at this exciting time in life.  His senior year is going to be great.

We had a good time scouting out some fun locations.  And the light was amazing!

I think this is my favorite portrait.  Just makes me smile to look at.

Joe plays lacrosse, so we headed down to a park to get some images of him in his jersey.

His jersey is #22, and he has a new XXII on his arm that I noticed as well.

We finished up at the beach on a beautiful evening.  I just love Madison this time of year.  And the light right around sunset is so warm…it wraps around everything and just makes people glow.

This summer was the first time that I have photographed high school seniors.  Up until this point, I’ve focused on children…mostly of the preschool and baby variety.  And let me tell you, photographing seniors was a joy and a pleasure!  They’re every bit as beautiful and fresh and my young clientele, but there’s this sense about them…they’re about to fledge.  There’s hope and excitement in there eyes.  It feels like they own the moment.

Oh, and one other really nice thing about photographing seniors?

They are receptive to directions!  It’s a fun experience to offer a location or posing suggestion and to have my lovely model just do exactly what I said.  That really blew my mind the first few times:)

Last weekend, I photographed a seriously fun and beautiful high school senior.  We had so much fun together, and every time I look at these photos, I just feel so happy…because her generous, active, silly spirit shines out so clearly.  How could a person not feel happy and hopeful with young people like this in the world?  Kendra, enjoy your sneak-peek!  Thanks for being so adventurous and joyful.  I don’t know anyone else who jumped…fully clothed in a pool for their senior pics:)  A girl after my own heart!
